About Zircon Supply Co.

A pottery and ceramics supply house in New Berlin, Wisconsin — clay by the box and the pallet, glaze by the pint and the pound, and the equipment to fire it.

What we do

Zircon Supply Co. supplies working potters, community studios, high-school and university ceramics programmes,
and production shops across the United States. We stock moist clay bodies, dry clay and raw glaze
materials, brushing and dipping glazes, underglazes, stains, hand tools, bats and banding wheels,
kiln shelves, posts, cones and kiln wash, potter’s wheels, slab rollers and electric kilns.

We are a stocking supplier, not a drop-shipper. Materials sit on our own racking in New Berlin,
which is why an order that mixes twelve boxes of stoneware, a bucket of glaze and a stack of shelves
leaves as one shipment instead of four, and why we can tell you honestly whether something is on the
floor before you pay for it.

Why the cone matters to us

Ceramic materials are not bought by temperature. They are bought by heatwork — the
combination of how hot a kiln got and how long it took to get there — and a pyrometric cone is the
only instrument on a studio shelf that measures it. Every clay body and every glaze we list carries
its usable cone range on the same scale, in the same place on the page, so two products can actually
be compared.

Where a glaze behaves differently over a dark body, moves on a vertical surface, or needs a slow
cool to break properly, the listing says so. We fire test tiles on the clay bodies we sell rather
than reprinting a manufacturer’s studio photograph.

How we buy

Clay is bought by the pallet and turned over quickly, because clay that has sat for a year in a
warm warehouse is harder to wedge and drier at the seam. Dry materials are kept in a dry room, weighed
to order, and bagged with the lot recorded. When a raw material changes — and mineral suppliers do
change their sources — we refire our standard test set before the new lot goes out.

Who we are

Zircon Supply Co. is the trading name of Zircon LLC, a Wisconsin-operated limited liability company. Our
warehouse and mailing address is 3275 S Stonegate Cir #104, New Berlin, WI 53151. The business is small, and the person answering
support@zirconsupply.store is the person who packs and fires.

Studio, school and production accounts

If you buy for a school district, a community studio or a production shop, write to us with your
typical monthly volume. We quote pallet pricing on clay, hold standing stock for programmes that fire
on a term schedule, and can invoice against a purchase order once an account is established.

Safety matters more here than in most catalogues. Many ceramic raw
materials contain crystalline silica; some colourants are toxic if inhaled or ingested. Every material
we sell ships with the manufacturer’s safety data sheet, and our listings state where a respirator,
gloves or local exhaust are required. If a page does not answer your safety question, ask before you
buy.
