Accessibility
What we have done to make this store usable with assistive technology, what is still imperfect, and how to tell us.
Our target
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA across this store. That is a target we test against
rather than a certification we claim, and this page is meant to be an honest account of where we are.
What has been done
- Contrast is measured, not judged by eye. Body text is well above the 4.5:1 minimum on
every background used on the site — the main text measures over 15:1, and no interface text is placed on
a photograph. - Text over images is avoided entirely. Where a photograph carries a heading, the
heading sits on its own solid panel beside or over the corner of the image, never on the picture itself. - Every photograph has descriptive alternative text that says what is in the frame, not
just the product name. - The firing-range graphic that appears on product listings is exposed to screen readers
as a text label (“firing range: cone 06 to cone 6”), so the information is never colour-only. - Headings are in order — one h1 per page, then h2 and h3 in sequence — so a screen
reader can navigate by structure. - Keyboard use: navigation, menus, product links and the cart are reachable and operable
with a keyboard, and focus is visible. - Tap targets on phones are at least 44 pixels on their smallest side.
- Motion respects your settings: if your device requests reduced motion, the scroll
animations are switched off entirely, and the site never autoplays anything. - The page works without JavaScript for reading and navigation; content is visible by
default rather than revealed by script.
Known limitations — the honest part
- Manufacturer safety data sheets are PDFs produced by third parties and many are not
tagged for screen readers. Email us and we will send you the contents of any SDS as plain text or read it
to you. - The payment form is served by our payment processor inside the checkout page. Its
markup is theirs, not ours; we have tested that it is reachable and operable by keyboard, but we cannot
change it. If it blocks you, email us and we will take the order and payment another way. - Some older product photographs show a material’s colour where the difference between
two options is genuinely visual. Where colour is the distinguishing feature we also name it in the text. - We have not yet completed a full audit with a screen reader on every template. Product
and policy pages have been tested; some deeper catalogue filter combinations have not.
Tell us and we will fix it
If any part of this store is difficult or impossible for you to use, email
support@zirconsupply.store with the page and what happened. We aim to reply within one working
day and to fix accessibility defects ahead of other work. If something cannot be fixed quickly, we will
give you a way to complete the order without it — including taking the order by email.
