Parcel, heavy parcel and LTL freight — what each one costs, how long it takes, and what happens when clay meets a Wisconsin winter.
Processing time
Orders pack in 1–2 working days. Anything placed before 1pm Central on a working day
is usually on a truck the following morning. We do not release an order until every line is in the
carton, so if one item is short we will email you with the choice of holding the order, splitting it at
our cost, or substituting.

We ship within the United States only. Boxed clay ships as ground parcel up to the carrier’s weight
limit; beyond that it becomes freight, which is almost always cheaper per pound anyway.
Freight (LTL)
Kilns, wheels, slab rollers, extruders, pallet quantities of clay and large kiln-shelf orders ship
LTL freight, curbside, with a delivery appointment. Freight is quoted before it ships —
you will not be surprised by a charge after the fact.
- The carrier calls to arrange a delivery window. If nobody answers, the pallet sits at the terminal
and storage charges start, so please use a phone number you actually answer. - Curbside means curbside. The driver brings the pallet to the back of the truck. Moving
a 400 lb kiln into a building is not part of the freight rate. Liftgate service and inside delivery can
be added to the quote if you tell us before dispatch. - Tell us if the address is residential, has no dock, or has a narrow approach. A truck that cannot
make the delivery is a re-delivery charge, and that one is avoidable.
Cold-weather shipping
Moist clay freezes. A frozen box does not ruin the clay — it thaws and wedges out — but repeated
freeze–thaw cycles in a trailer make the bag brittle and the clay short. Between December and February
we will, at no charge and on request, hold a moist-clay order until the forecast opens, or insulate the
pallet. Say the word “winter hold” in your order notes or email us after you order.
Damage and shortage
Photograph the carton or pallet before you cut it open if anything looks crushed, and note
the damage on the carrier’s delivery paperwork if you can. Tell us within five days of
delivery. We replace breakage and file the carrier claim ourselves; you should not have to negotiate
with a freight line over a broken bucket of glaze.
Tracking
Tracking is emailed when the label is created. Freight shipments get a PRO number and the carrier’s
name. If tracking has not moved in two working days, email us — we chase it faster than the carrier’s
phone queue will.
